Mention the Pet Shop Boys and the devoted go bended knee. And rightly so, as the Pet Shop Boys are possibly one of the UK’s finest bands... innovative, addictive and brilliantly, understatedly camp. Or not - depending on which stage outfit Neil’s chosen.

Come May 2nd and Heaven will host a rather special Pet Shop Boys moment. Can You Bear It? erupts at the legendary venue to celebrate the life of bodyguard and anti-racism campaigner at Arsenal FC, Denton Connell who died in a car accident in Russia whilst working with the Pet Shops Boys in October 2007.

Friend and ex-assistant to the PSB, Dainton "The Bear" Connell appeared in a number of their videos and also, subsequently, in an artwork by Sam Taylor- Wood. He was a huge Arsenal fan and a well-known face in North London. His death caused such grief that the streets around the Arsenal ground were closed off on the day of his funeral to allow thousands to attend. Amongst those mourning his death in person or via tributes were Matt Lucas and David Walliams, Robbie Williams, Ian Wright and Lee Dixon, Frank Bruno, Janet Street-Porter, John Lydon, and Pet Shop Boys themselves. All proceeds from Can You Bear It? will go directly to Dainton's wife and family.

Can You Bear It? will be a huge celebration of the best in British music over the past two decades with the Pet shop Boys headlining, Suggs & Carl from Madness joining the boys for a duet and a dj line-up that can’t surpassed. Spread across the decks of Heaven’s four rooms you’ll find some of the UK’s finest dj’s including Radio 1’s Judge Jules and Spoony, Danny Rampling, Tall Paul, Terry Farley, Steve Jackson, Brandon Block and Nicky Holloway.

A true celebration, a remarkable line up and rare chance to catch the Pet Shop Boys in 2008. Can You Bear It? With this line-up and honourable fund raising intentions, yes we can.
