Pride London 2007 : Leicester Square...
review
Thousands of revellers - some in feather boas, wings and draped in pink Union Jacks, others in casual clothes - turned out for London's gay pride parade and festival on Saturday. Flamboyant celebrations ensued, although perhaps somewhat dampened by the sporadic rain!
The parade kicked off at Baker Street, winding its way to Trafalgar Square where a main stage rally was ready to receive the crowds as they arrived in support of equality for the gay, bisexual, lesbian and trans communities. Mayor Ken Livingstone welcomed the gathered throng, and hours of festivities followed with performances from the likes of Sarah Ludford, Darren Hayes, Kerry Ellis from Wicked and loads more. The show was expertly compered by Graham Norton.
DJs, mobile shops, information points from charities and councils, drinks tents and stages offered various entertainment around the city. The Cabaret Stage in Leicester Square offered us the chance to see the Drag Idol Finals hosted by Titti La Camp and Lola Lasagne, and featuring the likes of Jacquii Cann, Lady Imelda and Trashville Tennessee. The street parties in Soho Square and the surrounding area delivered plenty of hot boys and girls and awesome music sponsored by British Airways.
With Europride taking place in Madrid this weekend (40 degrees and counting!) it was all the more disappointing that rain stopped play for us at times, but the weather seemed to strengthen our resolve to have a good time!

Pride 2008 sees, perhaps aptly, a fairytale adventure theme, and pridegoers are invited to dress for the occasion inspired by fairytale, myth and legend. A parade through the capital's famous streets ends with a huge rally in Trafalgar Square and partying in the streets of Soho. The next Pride London date for your diary:
